Smartphones will not replace desktop computers "

Mrs Hattersley said that it is difficult to say what the next trend in computing will be. Although she said that consumers should keep a close eye on the portable device sector.

Development of PCs embedded in smartphones is not likely to replace the traditional two desktops, one expert has claimed.

"Smartphones like the iPhone or Google Nexus is where the biggest market growth is happening, obviously. Will super-SEDE of a PC but is very unlikely," says Rosemary Hattersley, associate editor of PC advice.

Here are comments after a report from the Global Intelligence IDC, which said that PC sales in the United Kingdom had risen for the first time in almost twelve months.
